Nielson's ratings for the November Sweeps period have been released, and TVNewser reports that nothing much has changed on the nightly news front: NBC with Brian Williams is still in first, ABC with Charlie Gibson is still in second, and CBS with Katie Couric is still in third with the following numbers:
Total viewers
NBC: 9,570,000
ABC: 8,920,000
CBS: 7,780,00025-54 Demo
NBC: 2.4/9
ABC: 2.3/9
CBS: 2.0/7
These numbers have been fairly consistent for the past month, though there does seem to be a contingent of swing-voters making for some fluctuations. For example, in the last week of October NBC had 9.3 million, ABC 9.0, and CBS 7.7 (rounded to the nearest decimal). It's that decimal which does the swinging, as best exemplified in the high-low spread within that month (rounded to the nearest two decimals):
NBC: 9.84 (high); 9.38 (low); 0.46 (spread)
ABC: 9.38 (high); 8.48 (low); 0.90 (spread)
CBS: 7.96 (high); 7.69 (low); 0.27 (spread)
The spread between NBC's high and CBS' low, incidentally, is 2.15 million.
