First Rebecca Dana, then Choire Sicha, and now another departure at the Observer: Senior editor Suzy Hansen has been awarded a fellowship by the Institute of Current World Affairs in Turkey, where she'll spend the next two years living and writing. Hansen doesn't leave until April, but says she will likely leave the Observer some time next month. "It'll be very hard to leave this place," she said. Hansen said a replacement has not yet been determined.
In other ex-Observer staffer news, former "Off The Record" columnist Gabriel Snyder is leaving his current post at Variety to join W magazine as a senior writer based in its LA bureau.
Update: Memo Pad's Irin Carmon is on the beat and has this and other Observer news here. Also, a few people have written to let me know that Sheelah Kolhatkar and Gabe Sherman also left (both for Portfolio), but once you start down the path of who's left the Observer you have about an hour and a half of typing names ahead of you. Ben Smith. Damn. See?
NB: We couldn't suss out a pic of the dishy Hansen, but we think the Necessary Objects girl is a dead ringer.
