Ta-da! Here's CNN's response ad to the Fox News zinger calling Anderson Cooper the Paris Hilton of news, citing Cooper's work on Katrina ("He asked the tough questions"), Africa ("He went right to the region") and FNC's "irresponsible rumors about Barack Obama's past" ("He called them on it"). The ad also points out that "AC 360 has sliced Fox News Channel's lead by 84% at 10pm weeknights in little more than a year on the air" and AndyCoop has won all sorts of fancy awards. It's a nice looking ad, gritty, showing Anderson really doing it, man, but still...a giant block of text just ain't as catchy as "The Paris Hilton of Television News." Fox, like Paris Hilton, knows this well, which is why we give them the edge on the ad itself; however, CNN takes the point on the whole damn kerfuffle, because they're the one that got the buzz, and the free advertising, and the excuse to go be braggy about Anderson, again.
Update: Flash version of the ad is currently running on Drudge (far more effective in animated form, incidentally); not exactly preaching to the choir though.
