What's new in Libbyland, that magical theme-park where, uh, people crowd into a courtroom and listen to testimony? (Hey, sounds magical to me.) Well, the defense is debating whether or not to call Dick Cheney to the stand. And trying to diminish Tim Russert's credibility. And, reports the NY Sun, planning on bringing to the stand high-profile journalists including Jill Abramson, Bob Woodward, and Andrea Mitchell.
Meanwhile, commentators commentate. In Slate, Seth Stevenson gives an amusing and useful blow-by-blow of yesterday's proceedings, Arianna Huffington discusses how Russert's testimony underscores the problems with his chummy approach to political journalism, and at the National Journal, William Powers makes the contrarian but not-unconvincing point that the trial is good for journalism because it makes "transparent" the "living tableau" of the Washington media game.
It's a wild ride..
