Smackdown! On Thursday night, Stephen Colbert and his fine writing staff nailed Anderson Cooper on his criticism of his peers and their coverage of Anna Nicole Smith. Check out justice, swift and merciless, meted out below:
Well, AndyCoop, serves you right for your "holier than thou" attitude as Dan Abrams might say, and for breaking "an unwritten rule of news: He criticized his competitors" as Jeff Jarvis might say. How do we know that they might say that? Because that's what they said the last time Anderson hauled off and criticized the other networks for spurious coverage. It was August 2005 and Cooper was running a segment about the Natalee Holloway case which took the form of criticizing everyone else for running segments on the Natalee Holloway case. He got the smackdown then, too.
