Greetings, faithful ETP readers — you have probably noted the sudden rush of stellar content from one Jason Linkins, who has kindly stepped in as ETP guest-editor for these past few days. Jason, the D.C.-based proprietor of popular D.C.-based blog The DCeiver (give me one more excuse to write "D.C.," I swear I'll do it!), is also a frequent contributor to Wonkette and DCist (toldja), and will be helming ETP for the next week whilst I am off finishing up the last of my book leave and, God willing, finishing up the last of my book. Though it pains me not to respond to stuff like, say, Jeff Bercovici's article on why ageism is okay (I'd say something like, say, "If there were no elder statesmen, people in their 20s and just-turned-30s would pat themselves on the back for reinventing the wheel all the time, instead of realizing how much time they wasted doing what a zillion people before them had figured out years ago") — for the rest of the month, I am bound to refrain (and by the way, happy last-month 30th birthday, Jeff!). Er, starting now.*
Jason will be followed by another mystery guest-editor (ooh, suspense! Intrigue! Giant football-shaped salamis!) and both of them will be ably assisted, as always, by crack ETPer Glynnis MacNicol, with legal counsel provided by Sven Hodges and Ankush Khardori.** As well, ETP will be pleased to welcome the contributions of the always-newsworthy Julia Allison, who will be weighing in with all sorts of coverage next week — perhaps more coverage than you have ever seen from her! We are very excited.
A final note: Though I am thrilled to be leaving you with such a team (seriously, you're not going to want me back), I am sad to report that ETP has bid a fond farewell to longtime associate editor Melissa Lafsky, whose tart, smart dispatches have been invaluable from basically the getgo. She's going off to bigger and better, as tends to be the case, but has promised to weigh in here and there as necessary; here's hoping Michael Noer writes something very soon. Yes. We will miss her that much.
So that's the update — keep on tuning in to ETP, because these people are gold. And if you want to tell them yourself, you can do so right here. That's it from me — gotta (papa watch me) fly! Enjoy our great new team — see you all in May!
*Er, starting after the post above.
**Not really providing legal counsel, it's a joke because they're lawyers. If you need a lawyer, don't rely on ETP, that wouldn't be smart.
