Edith Darline "Edie" Smith was born in 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She has an Associates of Arts Degree in journalism from Tulsa Junior College, which she earned at age 40. She is an avid reader and writer, mostly op-ed pieces, and loves a good political discussion with friends. For 56 years she has been married to Willard L. Smith, age 88. Regardless of his own personal views on the topics she selects, and the opinions and attitudes expresses, Willard is a tireless supporter who would defend till his death the right to write freely. Edie is the proud mother of three sons - Leroy, Steven, and Jerry, and a daughter - Cheryl.
