A Little Bit of Arizona in East Haven

I'm giving chanclasos to the four police officers arrested by the FBI in East Haven, CT for harassing Latinos and violating their civil rights, which included unlawful arrests, filing false statements in police reports, and using excessive force even after they were handcuffed. Sgt. John Miller, and officers Dennis Spaulding, David Cari, and Jason Zullo are all facing charges that could land them if prison for at least 10 years. The U.S. Attorney has found Spaulding's behavior so abhorrent and despicable that she asked the judge not to release him. The judge finally released Spaulding after ordering him NOT to enter East Haven. He must have been a REAL PRICK! This police department is so corrupt, it arrested a local priest for taking the side of those being harassed. These four police officers failed in their duties to protect people, using their power and influence to terrorize Latinos instead.

So how did the East Haven Mayor respond when a reporter asked him what he was doing for the Latino community? He said he was going to eat tacos and that he spent two years in Puerto Rico. Imagínese!  With no hesitation on my part, I'm sending Mayor Joseph Maturo a flying chancla for his stupid remarks and standing by the police department despite the clear evidence that his police officers were abusing their power.

Aplauso:

I'm giving a standing aplauso to Rep. Gabby Giffords for her public service and commitment to the good people of Tucson, AZ.  Rep. Giffords resigned this week to focus on her recovery after a gunshot wound to the head. Giffords was a vocal critic of SB1070 and a supporter of the DREAM Act. Gracias Gabby and a speedy recovery!  --Sergio Lopez
