El Chanclaso Headshot

Show Respect to El Jefe

I'm throwing a flying chancla to "reporter" Neil Munro of the Daily Caller for repeatedly interrupting the President of the United States during his press conference on immigration. I've written about it the past and I'm going to stress it one more time: while it's completely kosher to disagree with the President, one should still show respect to the office. Who in their right mind thinks it's appropriate to interrupt the President? The President is making an important speech and he will let you know when he is taking questions. This kind of disrespect of right-wingers show towards President Obama is uncalled for and deeply unsettling. He's not your neighbor or your friend, he's the President of the United States.

I'm giving the Republican National Committee (RNC) a soft chanclaso for misdirecting their outreach to Latinos by placing a photo of Asian children on its RNCLatinos.com website. While they chose a stock photo of Asian children that was clearly labeled as "Asian, Thailiand, and Japanese," RNC staff should be more careful about paying attention to the minor details in order to avoid these silly mistakes. Props to the RNC for trying to outreach to Latinos, but they're still getting a light-hearted chanclaso. Now if we can get more Republicans to support the DREAM Act, that's the outreach that will make a lasting impression on Latinos rather than a stock photo featuring children.
