You Must Be Kidding: the Email Reply I Sent to Harry Reid

An email I received from Sen. Harry Reid, and the reply I sent him:

Subject: Humming

On 10/7/2008 11:06 AM, "Sen. Harry Reid" wrote:

Dear Elayne,

The difference between real change and more of the same is a filibuster-proof Senate. Without it, Barack Obama's hands will be tied.

Democrats are leading in six Senate races for Republican-held seats. We're close in five more.

That filibuster-proof majority is in reach, but all of us have to do our part. The DSCC needs another $2.5 million - raised $5 and $10 at a time - before Friday to fight the lies and keep our campaigns humming next week.

Senator Harry Reid

Dear Harry,

You must be kidding. You let the criminals rob the treasury on the way out, and you want money from us?! The people you've bankrupted with your lack of oversight and now your lack of foresight? All you had to do, instead of falling for the "Weapons of Cash Destruction, hurry-up-and-pass-it lie" AGAIN, was to hold a worldwide press conference and say, "You know this plan is bad, for your banks and for our country. We will have a new president in a month. We will have a new plan in a month, and we give you our word that we will act to protect your countries' economies as well as ours, but we must ask you to hang on for just one more month."

Everyone knows Bush is the Boy Who Cried Wolfowitz, except you. Eight years of allowing the Ponzi Real Estate Pyramid schemes on your watch, and you couldn't hold out four more weeks. Instead, you made a mockery of checks and balances (which will now be known as BLANK CHECKS and NO BALANCES), of oversight, of review, of our votes, and you let them empty the coffers completely this time to insure that the next president (probably a Democrat) will not have the money to implement one single plan for America, insuring the return to power of the Karl Rove Traveling Dinner Theater Players in a mere four years.

"Barack's hands will be tied if we don't have a filibuster-proof senate"? His hands, wallet, and pockets are now empty thanks to you, meaning there will be no money for health care reform, college loans, social security, Medicare, and infrastructure repair. What is there to filibuster, which party gets to turn out the lights? Bush and Co. are now treasury robbing equals with every African dictator and every banana republic shyster, and no doubt Laura Bush has three thousand pairs of shoes in her closet. The only reason I am even leaving my house on election day is to prevent the Supreme Court from becoming the DAR, as we know YOU won't stand up to any right wing ideologue put up for a vote by a Republican president. Other than that, my days of caring, volunteering, contributing to the pathetic and corrupt DEMOCRATIC party (we already knew that about the Republicans) are over. I am not going to waste another second of the time I have left on this earth paying attention to anything anyone in government ever says again. You are a disgrace to this country, and no better than the Bush Regime for what you let them perpetrate on the people who sent you to Washington to REPRESENT us. You are NOT the House of Representatives, you are the House of Horrors. My life's work is animal rescue (www.tailsofjoy.net). Thanks to your non-existent policies regarding animal welfare, and thanks to your criminally negligent policies spurring foreclosures, every dedicated volunteer is spending every penny she/he has left trying to prevent the obscenity of the ten million companion animals killed by the government each year in America from becoming twenty million killed this year. Good luck to us. By now Americans know their money is better given to dogs than senators.

You need ONLY "$2.5 million before Friday" to keep your campaigns "humming"? You rape the treasury, announce it "might not work but we had to do "something,'" and you are disconnected enough from our horror to breezily use the word "humming"!!?? How about another trillion to keep Iraq "tidy," or another hundred billion to "perk up" Afghanistan? What's in the air you are breathing in the capital, cartoon ink? Francoise Giscard D'Estaing once said, "We will only have true equality when we have mediocre WOMEN in high positions". Well, at least you've achieved something. Regards to Ms. Pelosi. Car mechanics say, "It could be thousands to fix, but I can try this first for fifty bucks. It might not work but we'll see." Nobody but the lunatics running the asylum say, "It's a trillion dollars AND it might not work." You are not fixing MY car, and you are not my party. Take me off your lists, and go away. No, really. Go away.

Elayne

This is why democrats always lose. The party comes ready-made with their own little internal suicide bombers.

Way to go Ms. Boozler!!!

Although, I must admit, I still contribute to my favorite candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I, VT), Al Franken (Democratic candidate for senate in MN) and Sen. Maria Cantwell (D, WA). Others worthy of support, IMHO, Sen. Feingold (D, WI), Sen. Leahy (D, VT), and Rep. Kucinich (D, IL).

Kucinich is from Ohio. And he should be our next President.

I hear you Elayne.

May I mention Kucinich, the only one I saw telling the truth. The last I heard of him, he was waving his arms and yelling "Wake Up America."

reid is right about veto proof majority as long as the GOP has a talk radio monopoly. that coordinated uncontested repetition from 1000 stations has dominated america's politics the last 20 years since reagan killed the Fairness Doctrine. it has been used too weed out GOP moderates and what is left is a group of lockstep frightened buttkissers afraid to get their names mentioned by limbaugh and hannity. as long as the monopoly holds bipartisanship and real democracy is impossible, and obama will be hamstrung. the biggest political blunder in decades has been the Dems operating and valuating their losses and strategies and moving rightward while completely ignoring the GOP's most effective political weapon (because it gives thinking people headaches) and thinking the pressure they're feeling is a legitimate public sentiment instead of the loudmouthed blowhards with the biggest soapboxes in the country cheerleading 60 mil. americans in well timed attacks based on misinformation and lies. the party of lincoln has become the party of limbaugh and until that talk radio monopoly is reduced the GOP willl continue to determine the flavor of america and obama like all dems will have to do twice the work that would be needed in a real democracy.

I've been saying the same thing for years since I first learned that 911 was an inside job and the Dems [Cynthia McKinney exepted] were going along with the blatent and transparent cover-up. This is good cop-bad cop plain and simple. They could never pull it off if they did not have the illusion of an opposition party. Now that Bush has secretly rewriten the constitution to be able to declare any citizen as an "enemy combatent" and redeployed the most battle hardened infantry division in the US army[that would be the third infantry division who have been on the front line for four years] back to the US for crowd controll training and yes, they do have microwave weapons that will make you screem in pain and run like a scared little girl, what will you do when they either steal another election or just outright cancell them? Expect another large scale false flag operation this month that will make 911 pale in comparison because there is no way in hell that these traitors will simply just walk away.

I didn't realize you had such strong feelings, but I'm glad you shared them. Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be shocked at how angry you are. So would Sean Hannity who would say, "Look at that angry, out of control liberal. Look how irrational she is, where, in contrast, I am the epitome of class and decency."

Many Republicans are shocked and dismayed at the anger out there because they have, for so long, bullied others around, boxed people out of the process, failed to listen to their views. These types always lose in the end; people eventually lash out at them verbally or withdraw from them. They, the Repubs, never understand why others are angry at them and they live out their lives not understanding why others avoid them---as they continue to see themselves as highly evolved human beings.

Yes, the Dems have colluded with the Republicans to some degree. But, I do have some compassion for Harry Reid and others. Listen, they have worked along side some the most toxic Republicans in history---Frist, Delay, Hastert, Allen, smiling, greasy villians.

beautiful! I am going to use this joke.
Ms. Boosler, thanks for putting in words the impotent anger and frustration I feel about what has been allowed to happen to our treasury. We are toast and it is thanks to our congress and the media that this has occurred.
I wish that people would wake up and realize that we're dealing with two sides of the same coin. There is no difference, really, between republicans and democrats. Vote with your feet and vote them all out of office. Go Nader!

Elayne, you just summed up perfectly my own reaction to the last two years (and longer) of Democratic befuddlement and incompetence. Republicans are worse, by a great margin. But the Democrats have been absolutely pathetic.

Thank you for that. Eloquent expression of what I'd like to tell my so-called *representatives*.

I told one of them that from now on when he was speaking and he said *people in my state* he could take it for granted that he was no longer speaking for me.

I'm ashamed of them.

As I am represented by Steven Lynch (D) of Massachusetts who voted AGAINST the bailout, and he did so for many of the same reasons you gave in your impassioned e-mail, I am somewhat more focused on specific legislators in terms of my donations. Although I will admit when Barack's campaign solicited another donation from me a month ago, I sent an e-mail stating that though I would vote for him I was so disappointed in his "coming from the right" policy of widening the war in Afghanistan that I asked them to never solicit me again.

If the democrats take control, I want to see a true bipartian effect. Americans can disagree with being disagreeable. I do not want the democrats to conduct themselves the way the republicans did from 2000-2006. They were divisive and look at what has happened to our country. We don't need that type of leadership for our country. We must come together democrats, republicans, independents, green party, etc to get America back on track.

Unfortunately for democrats what you see is what you get. A lack of leadership. Obama had to hire Biden so he would have someone to tell him what to do.

Pathetic but not surprising.

Hey, I'm a Dem..and i AGREE completely with you. Reid and Pelosi have been far less than acceptible. For one thing, if the Repugs ran things and a Dem administration commited HALF the crimes that these thugs have, they would IMPEACH all of them. These Dems running things seem less than brave. If we get the White House and a 60 vote majority in November, and crimminal investigations into all of this stuff aren't carried out, I will not vote for either major party again.

Good on ya Elayne, tell him what a traitor we think these two are

I agree they seems weak, childish and petty. I believe they like the titles more than the work the titles entail. I like both of them; however, they haven't provided the leadership that is needed.

Excellent, Elayne. Goodness, maybe people are starting to wake up. You know, all it would have taken to stop this would have been a single Senator who did a true filibuster. Just one. Should have been Obama, too, but he chose to back the plutocrats, the creep. I am so done with these people. I'm voting third party this time and I hope a lot of people join me.

Ron Paul walks the talk.

He did not apply for Social Security when he turned 65 ". . . because I am comfortable and have enough. SS should be for those who really need it." (My hero.)

He began sounding the alarm bells years ago that this economic fiasco was going to happen , but his fellow congresspersons just marginalized and made fun of him and still do. He argued heroically against this ghastly "bailout."

He is a sane voice among those "nattering nabobs" on Capitol Hill who only talk to hear their brains rattle and wouldn't know how to do the right and honorable things necessary to actually represent us if they had diagrams. But we didn't get behind him in numbers large enough to carry him to the top of the ticket.

Nader is 100 times better than Paul.

While there is much to admire about Ron Paul, like every candidate, he has his faults and drawbacks. I'm not going to go into them here. I'm just making the point that the "messiah" who will deliver us is a myth, and nirvana is a state of mind, sadly, not to be found in politics, whomever your chosen one happens to be.
