Eli Attie was Vice President Al Gore's chief speechwriter from 1997 to the end of the Florida recount in 2000, and also worked for President Bill Clinton and House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt. He is currently a writer and producer of the TV series "The West Wing," and writes occasionally about pop music for The Washington Post and other publications.
