I Lost the Election for Obama (and you can, too!)

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

I'm sorry, everyone. I did it. It was me. I lost the election for Obama. Here's the video:

Here's the thing: any of us could be That Guy or That Girl -- the one that slept through or forgot about Election Day and tipped the balance to McCain.

So, we've made it possible for you to actually insert your name or your friend's name into this video where mine is now. You have to see it to check it out. It's a vivid, kinda funny reminder of what might happen if we all don't get out there on Tuesday.

Just go here to get started.

This isn't just about making your friends do a double-take (though they will). It's actually proven to be one of the most effective GOTV tactics. A nudge from a friend or colleague is more likely to make someone pull the lever than any phone call, TV ad, or flyer.

So, take a minute to pass it on? We've got to make sure on Wednesday, no one has to live through being That Guy.

Let's do the math. How many times does one get to vote for a president in a lifetime? Let's say you are 21 and you get to live until the age of 72. These are the times you can get to vote: 21, 25, 29, 33, 37, 41, 45, 49, 53, 57, 61, 65, 69. That makes you able to vote for a president 13 times. 13 Times you are privileged to hire the highest seat of government. 13 times your voice is heard, 13 times you can say I was right in choosing him/her to the best that my conscience dictated, 13 times you can give each one of your loved ones and the people around you a vote for a candidate that you deem best to give them a better tomorrow, a better hope and a chance for a greater America. I am old. I will not spoil a single chance of it. After all it is I who will feel the crunch the pain and the misery if anything goes wrong with the choice that many others did, and yet I missed that chance to have a say, to have a voice, and that is why I opt Barack Obama for president. Why? It might well be the last time I get to vote and I don't wanna miss that chance to vote the right one, yes, that one!

Absolutely the most hysterical and most on-target video I've seen this entire election cycle. Astounding. I don't often see something that makes me go "Wow, I wish I'd thought of that." But...wow, I wish I'd thought of that.

Yeah? You sure? This thing plays like a dirty trick Karl Rove would devise to get people pissed at MoveOn or wherever you get it from. You may think it's funny to send but it's NOT pleasant to see your name used this way when you get this aggressive sh*t out of nowhere, as I did, a week after I voted absentee.

Think about it, people!

I did think about it. And what I thought is that you need a sense of humor.

ppl who received this email from Van Jone's Color of Change were up in arms over this video being sent to them...they assumed that this was a real video and that all of their friends saw this on the internet...

CofC had to send out an apology email!

I already sent it to my friends, family, DJ's and even people I know that support McCain.
Everyone loved it. Hope they all vote.

Nov 4th should be a national holiday that allows everyone to be off of work to vote and they should all be done with a ballot and a No 2 pencil. It's how most other countries do it.

Either that or change it to a Saturday.

Just for the record, "girls" are not allowed to vote--only women and men (both defined as over the age of 18 years).

To other stressed out Obama supporters; There are only two ways Obama can lose
1. If we let them steal this election in all the ways that they will try to (voter suppression)
2. If you you don't get your A$$ out and vote.

GO VOTE AND WAIT AS LONG AS YOU HAVE TO!!!

And to further hedge your bet, make a photographic vow to vote!

Because you wouldn't break a vow, now, would you?

Especially a vow that you made public.

So...

Vow to vote; snap a picture; upload it to your website; and then get five other voters to do the same!

I've been losing elections since McGovern in '72, two wins in nine attempts. Not a very good average.

Me too...and it wasn't because I slept through an election!
I cast my first vote at age 21, for JFK! I was a responsible mature Mother of two, who was well aware of my civic duty to participate in politics.
don't know where these feckless
20 year olds, came from, or why, but I know they exist, because I spent a year in college with them!
( To be fair, that was a decade ago, my fellow students would be 31,-33 now.)
At this end of my life, the neo-con crooks have really put a damper on my life,; NOT bloody likely that I would sleep through the vote! I'm just delighted that others are finally catching up to me!
