At best, meat is wasteful: it takes 10,000 pounds of grain to produce 1000 pounds of meat. That's 90% of the total energy it takes to make a burger, thrown away. And if you're more philosophical, the problem is some more complicated equation of inhumane and unethical. The feedlot conditions...
