Elizabeth Jordan writes from New York City, where she works for the human rights defenders program at Human Rights First, a non-profit, non-governmental human rights advocacy organization. Her work focuses on research and advocacy in conjunction with activists in the field in Cuba as well as the gender-specific risks that women human rights defenders face around the world. She has traveled to Cuba, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic.
