Elizabeth Shakman Hurd is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Northwestern University and lives in Evanston, Illinois. Her work on secularism, religion, and politics has appeared widely in academic journals in the United States and Europe. She is the author of a recent book, The Politics of Secularism in International Relations and the forthcoming book Remaking Religion: Comparative Secularisms in a Global Age (co-edited with Linell Cady.) She is a frequent commentator on the international politics of the Middle East.
