Posted: 09/04/2012 8:50 pm

Some people may think September is the end of ice cream season. We just think it means it's time to get more creative. From curry to cherries, avocado to asparagus, if it's good to eat, as far as we're concerned it's good to go in ice cream.

Click the links below the slideshow for our 10 favorite crazy ice cream recipes. Love them or hate them, they're anything but vanilla.

I love pistachio ice cream...I don't know whether that would be considered an off the wall flavor or not. My mother loved it and she sort of got me liking it since I was a little boy. I love good coffee icecream too, especially a milkshake made with coffee icecream.

B &J already makes peanut butter and banana greek yogurt, and its goooood! Add some chocolate and it'll be even better. The other flavors here, I think I'll pass on. ;)

Gilroy has garlic ice cream served at the annual Garlic Festival. Apricot buttermilk sounds good. My friend makes white peach ice cream in her home ice cream maker. Whatever you like, give it a try if you have an ice cream maker.

Have had garlic ice cream. I dated one of the Garlic Queens when doing post graduate work in the Bay Area. Prefer garlic fried and served with rice.

I'd try any of those except for the avocado and olive oil flavors. I'd try the asparagus at least, even though I'm really picky about my asparagus (it has to be cooked 100% perfectly, otherwise I can't even get it down). Avocado is one of the foods that I can't even choke down (along with tomatoes). And olive oil is only something I tolerate.

Rose petal doesn't sound that weird to me, but I'm a tea drinker so I run into rose petals in my beverages quite frequently. The rest don't really even sound slightly questionable.

I'm surprised they left out garlic ice cream. It's actually quite good, even though I'm not a big garlic fan. But the only place I've ever seen it is at the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, CA.

I grew up on rosewater ice cream. It's pretty darned good, especially with pistachios in it.

In Austin, TX there is a local ice cream chain called Amy's. It has some pretty crazy flavors sometimes. I did taste their olive oil ice cream and so did my 7 year old. I gagged immediately (and I have a pretty strong stomach) she just looked a bit confused and said, "Yeah, that's foul."

Some of the flavors on here sound really yummy though.
