You know you have to serve all the standards at a Super Bowl party: pizza, wings, nachos, burgers, blah, blah, blah.

But that doesn't mean they have to be blah! A little whiskey, a few roasted red peppers and a dollop of fig jam later -- we present ten classic Super Bowl recipes, each one with a contemporary foodie twist.

Every Super Bowl party has to start with beer...but that doesn't mean it can't be encased in dark chocolate, heavy cream and Dutch process cocoa.

I've wrapped steak strips around cheese filled strawberries. Really good. Even using leftver steak works.

I don't even eat red meat but I still think the burgers look delicious!

How about Buffalo Shrimp instead of chicken, with the sauce under the crust? http://ozarkhomesteader.wordpress.com/2011/02/05/buffalo-shrimp-spicy-crunchy-and-good-for-snacking-or-salad/

Just as tasty and a lot less messy.

All these dishes look good. Still to be sure we are around for many more Super Bowls, many of us should cut down on unnecessary sugar and calories for game day snacking. However, there are healthier alternatives and ways to prepare. Take the ever-popular meatball. Replace sweetened ketchup and sugar-laden grape jelly with cranberry sauce, pureed tomatoes, and Stevia Extract In The Raw. It's about converting the ingredients, while still maintaining taste. Take a look at how to convert your own recipes for health here -- http://www.steviaextractintheraw.com/Useage-Tips.aspx . While you're there, find the healthier meatball recipe under Entrees.

It's estimated around 130-155 million pounds of food in consumed on Super Bowl Sunday. Wings dominate, with chips and dip in second... http://foodiegossip.blogspot.com/2011/02/super-bowl-food-statistics-are-you.html

Yes to the kimchi! At home I use it to top hot dogs. It goes well with smoked sausages, too.
