10. Fried Peanut Butter, Banana and Bourbon Sandwich
1 of 11
Breakfast at The Breslin in New York is about as ridiculously delectable as it gets. In their modern update on The Elvis sandwich, peanut butter, banana, bourbon and vanilla are all goo-ily encased in a fried-til-crispy puffed skin.

Burrata and naan bread go nicely together. Cut up some heirloom tomatoes and basil and you have a wonderful lunch. Trader Joe's has a very decent burrata at a reasonable price.

The Double Down is easier to joke about than it really is bad compared to other fast foods. Look at the ACTUAL nutritional information. Nate Silver did a piece on it finding LOTS of things on the KFC/Taco Bell/McDonalds/BK menus much much much worse for your body.

The silly thing is: if it was exactly the same+ a bun, no one would care.

I once overheard a woman eating a double whopper making fun of the double down, she didn't get the irony...to few people do.

The Double Down could only have been invented in the USA!

Actually I think it's kind of a riff on Chicken Cordon Blue...chicken topped w/ham and cheese. Not so original.

Fair enough, but I'd imagine this is the first time it's been widely sold, certainly by a fast food outlet.

Maybe I'm just a poutine purist, but I'm not sure about that New York poutine. Something about the cheese looking like unmelted cubes... the curds must be squeaky! SQUEAKY!

Besides, Montréal is only a few hours north... why not come over and have an authentic one? Meet the wonderful Carmen, who works at Rapido, or go wait in line for the Banquise, where you can choose within a dozen different types of poutine... Both places are open 24hrs, which is perfect because poutine really tastes best at 3am.

Representin' poutine.

Oh, it makes my mouth water so!  Sounds scrumptious.

American Goop would be a better headline. YUCK!

This is truly disgusting, I must say. The only remotely healthy items you have on here are two of the lowest rated. And how can you honestly "hope" that sustainable sushi takes off in one breath while praising the double down in another? I'm all for a splurge now and then but come on, can this really be the best of new foods this year?
09:56 AM on 12/30/2010
Most of these "best foods" are over-the-top fads except for Naan bread, which is definitely the king of all breads.

Apart from the buratta, everything on this list looks vile -- and I am really hungry right now.

That so-called Malaysian one looks especially nasty - you sure wont see anything like that ANYWHERE in Southeast Asia.

why do pictures of the double down always have the same look and quality of a mug shot? appropriate i guess... murderer.

I tasted Burrata for the first time this year, and it's pretty darn yummy.
