It is no secret that women are creating massive waves of change across the globe! Yet, behind closed doors they carry an enormous weight of responsibility that often goes unnoticed. In Dear Stress, I’m Breaking Up With You, a compilation book written by women for women we are given an all access pass to go behind the iron clad doors of female leaders.

The visionary behind this refreshingly honest women’s empowerment book is Ky-Lee Hanson who understands firsthand what it is like to wear many hats and also many masks. She has battled negative emotions in her private life ranging from depression, anxiety, self-pity and internal stress! One day she received a colossal wake up call, her very own epiphany! Instinctively, she knew that she was called to powerfully lead women in business and inspire them to be the best version of themselves. This emotional wellness book was designed with the busy women in mind. Each chapter is written by an Expert in that subject and is an inclusive story all on its own.

I was interested in reviewing this book because as a thriving creative thought leader I am intimately acquainted with the daily demands of being in command. In every story that was shared I could find a point of intersection that succinctly collided with my personal challenges. Women who lead from the front lines are often perceived as super sheros. If we are not careful we can easily become prisoners of our own strength. I believe the power of transparency that is weaved throughout the entire book will create open doors of liberty to women who feel alone in their silent struggle with stress.

Personally, I am graciously learning to listen to my inner triggers. When I was younger I would ignore the signals and they are always there because the body never lies, we simply deny the message it is seeking to convey to us.

The end goal of the book is to be a guide to ending pressures and breaking up with overwhelming-stress. Ky-Lee opens up with a few thought provoking questions, “What does your stress-free version of yourself look like?, What does she wear?, What does she eat?, Who are her friends?, What does her office look like?, Are you strong and ready to seize the day?, Will you live your life or are you living in someone else’s world?, Can you find the good in every situation especially the bad?”

Here are a few of my favorite power statements from several of the authors:

“You are capable, yet many things may be standing in your way. Make sure that YOU are not one of those things.” ~Ky-Lee Hanson

“My solution/resolution, is to live in the moment, not in the moments that follow, but the one you’re IN.”~Patricia Yeatman

“Are your dreams bigger than your fears? What is your “why”? “Your why should make you cry.” ~Kelly Rolfe

“Your NO has just as much power as your YES-these two statements are your personal currency which enable you to choose whom and what you allow into your life or not. When you exercise this power with respect for yourself first, those around you will come to respect you, and the boundaries that you establish.” ~Tania Jane Moraes-Vaz

“We should work on being, instead of doing.” ~Stephanie Butler

“Nobody has time until they CREATE it!” ~Eva Macias

“The day I realized that I had chosen the wrong path for myself, was the day I realized that I woke up!” ~Kathyrn Yeatman

“I definitely knew I wasn’t going to be perfect, so I decided to be perfectly imperfect.” ~Kimberly Francis

“You are too unique to be conformed into the meaningless norms of stereotypes.”~Dr. Supriya Gade

“Change your perspective and your perspective changes.” ~Michelle Zubrinich

Dear Stress, is a delightful read and hard to put it down. It felt like I was at dinner with a group of girl friends catching up on the real deal of life. In the final chapter Ky-Lee admonishes us to become obsessed with what we want to change and put our entire focus on it. Happiness is freedom and freedom is happiness. We each must design a life that reflects what we value most. Now is the perfect time to build your dream life. It is only one thought and decisive act away from where you currently stand.
