Beijing Police Arrest Couple Who Filmed Uniqlo Sex Tape

They've received a severe dressing down.

Beijing police have arrested the couple who starred in a sex tape filmed in a Uniqlo dressing room, along with several others involved in the video's production and distribution.

The short video, which authorities accused of having "severely violated socialist core values" after it went viral last Tuesday, features an unnamed couple who appear to have sex in one of the dressing rooms in Uniqlo's flagship store in Beijing.

According to a police statement obtained by the L.A. Times, one 19-year-old man with the surname of "Sun" has been charged with disseminating obscene material. At least four others, including the couple (pictured below), have also been detained, China Daily reported.

While the Japanese clothing store has denied any involvement with the video, some have speculated the 71-second clip was a publicity stunt designed to raise the company's profile. If police determine Uniqlo had a hand in the sex tape, the company could be fined 200,000 to 1 million yuan ($32,000 to $161,000) China Radio International reported.

As the LA Times noted, pornography is illegal in China.

Indeed, the sex tape seems to have already made an impression, with many shoppers in China telling CNN last Wednesday they'd only come to Uniqlo to gawk at the infamous dressing room.

"I came here because of the clip," one man, who asked not to be named, told CNN. "I never heard of Uniqlo before the clip," another added.

Uniqlo released a statement distancing the company from the video.

"As a responsible international brand, Uniqlo is dedicated to providing consumers with safe, comfortable and quality shopping experiences and locations," the statement said. "We would like to remind all customers to abide by society's moral standard ... and properly and appropriately use our fitting rooms."
