Ben Carson Volunteer Dies After Iowa Car Crash

Braden Joplin was 25 years old.

WASHINGTON, Jan 19 (Reuters) - A man helping campaign for U.S. Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has died after being injured in a car accident in Iowa on Tuesday, according to a statement from a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, released by Carson's campaign.

Campaign volunteer Braden Joplin, 25, died in Nebraska Medical Center after being admitted in critical condition following the accident in Atlantic, Iowa, the statement said.

Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, temporarily suspended his campaign and was traveling from South Carolina to Omaha where he was planning to meet with Joplin's family members and offer his condolences.
