Chicago Sky Sign 14-Year-Old With Cerebral Palsy To A One-Day Contract

On Friday, 14-year-old Kiara Hood's dream to play professional basketball came true.

The WNBA's Chicago Sky signed the Illinois teen to a one-day contract, in which she'll join the team for a pre-game shoot around with the Sky before they face off against the Washington Mystics at Allstate Arena at 7. After the announcement, Hood held her own press conference.

“It just puts things into perspective ... Anything that we’re going to face this season doesn’t compare to the obstacles that she’s had to overcome,” Sky forward Elena Delle Donne told reporters of Hood, who has hemiplegic cerebral palsy.

When asked about what she takes away from playing basketball, Hood said, "Just to keep trying and don't give up."

It's a critical game for the Sky, who still are holding on to the No. 4 spot, but trail the Mystics in the Eastern Conference standings. Delle Donne said Hood's presence will make them play "at a whole different level."

"Just her smile brightened up walkthrough," the player said.
