Colbert Is Outraged Over Florida's Festivus Pole At The State Capitol

In Florida, a man set up a pole honoring the "Seinfeld" holiday Festivus at the state capitol in order to protest the nativity scene at the location. And Stephen Colbert had a few words to say about it.

"In addition to the nativity scene, the Florida state capitol has a Festivus pole, a menorah and a monument to the Aztec snake god, Governor Rick Scott," Colbert joked.

He had some fun at the expense of Fox News' Gretchen Carlson, who was outraged not only at the nativity scene, but at the very idea that some Christmas traditions were lifted from pagans and other traditions. "That is ridiculous," Colbert said. "What's next, Jesus was Jewish?"

In fairness to the man who set up the pole for the Costanzas' favorite holiday, he pointed out that Jesus Christ was actually the original Jerry Seinfeld from the '90s sitcom. "Single guy, hanging out with a couple guys and one woman. And he's always foiled by his nemesis! 'Hello, Judas.'"
