David Beckham Buys Hot Drinks For Cold Paramedic And Patient, Melts Our Hearts

"I was so chuffed."

David Beckham melted hearts and thawed out fingers by bringing hot drinks to an injured cyclist in freezing cold central London on Monday.

The former L.A. Galaxy soccer star spotted paramedic Catherine Maynard attending to an elderly man who'd fallen off his bike.

He said "hello" to the duo, jumped into his car parked nearby and returned 10 minutes later with cups of tea and coffee.

The 40-year-old multi-millionaire then posed for this snap with Maynard, which is going viral:

Maynard, part of London Ambulance Service's cycle response unit, was waiting for an ambulance to take the patient to hospital when Beckham walked by.

"I said to the man I was treating, 'I think that was David Beckham,'" she said via a LAS statement. "Ten minutes later, he came back with a cup of coffee for me and a tea for the patient."

She said both her and the unidentified patient, who was later treated at hospital for minor injuries, were both "very amused and flattered."

David Beckham retired from professional soccer in 2013, after a 21-year career that saw him play for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-German and L.A. Galaxy.

"It was awful cycling around in the cold today and I couldn't believe it when he came back with some hot drinks -- I was so chuffed," she added.

The LAS said it showed that Beckham "respects the service's hard-working paramedics and even a gesture as small as buying a cup of coffee makes our crews feel appreciated."
