Congrats, Ryan Reynolds. You are officially a blockbuster star.

New superhero film "Deadpool," which debuted Friday, is in serious contention to beat the record for biggest President's Day box office opening -- which last year's "Fifty Shades of Grey" currently holds. According to Variety, "Deadpool" looks likely to surpass its once predicted $70 million four-day weekend opening, with current estimates at $130 million. "Fifty Shades of Grey" brought in $93 million.

In a recent interview, Reynolds opened up about another way the franchise could prove to be groundbreaking. He added his voice to the many fans calling for his character, who is pansexual in the original comic, to date a man in future films.

"I love that about Deadpool," Reynolds told Variety. "I love that he can break any boundary. In the future, I hope we get to do that more."

"I certainly wouldn’t be the guy standing in the way of that,”he said. "That would be great."
