Family Pledges $52 To Different Charities For 52 Weeks

A New York husband and wife are tightening their belts this year after making a New Year's resolution to donate $52 to 52 charities in the 2011's 52 weeks.

Tonic reports that the couple, who calls themselves Giver Girl and Giver Boy, have pledged to give $2,704 this year to charities. Asking to remain anonymous, Giver Girl started a blog, 52times52, to invite people to follow their year.

The anonymous wife was inspired by a recent request for a $52.52 donation from Philadelphia's Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission.

Tonic reports:

In future months, she anticipates funding other causes close to her heart, including suicide prevention, foster care programs and more, as well as groups that grab her heart along the way. "The world's not going to stop having problems. I'm going to let causes move me throughout the year," she says.
