If you're planning a quick trip up to Astoria, Oregon, to truffle-shuffle in front of the house featured in the cult 1985 film, "The Goonies," you missed your chance.
After years of welcoming visitors up the driveway to take pictures, the owners have decided they've had enough, thanks to tourists who park in no parking zones and on sidewalks, leave beer bottles and garbage over night and don't pick up after their dogs. Presumably, increased interest in the house might have arisen due to the fact that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the film's release (the town celebrated with a four-day party in June).
Portland news channel KGW8 reports that up to 1,500 people walk up the driveway every day to look at the house. In response, the owner, Sandi Preston, covered the balcony up with big blue tarps and posted signs that plead for empathy:

Preston moved in 14 years ago and wrote on Facebook that she's become worn out, according to The Associated Press.
Many would-be visitors don't know that the home is closed to them and have to turn away. "It's a bummer as somebody who just wanted to come see a piece of childhood and something that you felt like you're a part of," one visitor told KGW8.
Unfortunately, not even the truffle shuffle will get you in, as Preston has no plans to reopen the house.
