5 Tech Companies With Fewer Workers Than HP Just Laid Off

Hewlett-Packard plans to lay off the equivalent of three Facebooks.

Hewlett-Packard announced plans Tuesday to lay off up to 30,000 workers as part of a broader restructuring and cost-saving effort ahead of its planned divide into two separate companies later this year.

The layoffs -- in addition to the 54,000 that already took place -- are the most by a North American company this year, according to Bloomberg. As of Oct. 31, 2014, when HP released its last fiscal year report, the company employed around 302,000 people.
