Evanston Hospital Employee Gets Laid Off, Punches Boss In Face

A 21-year-old food services employee at Evanston Hospital allegedly punched his boss in the face Wednesday afternoon, after being told he was getting laid off.

The employee, whom police have not named, became aggressively upset when informed of his impending termination, TribLocal reports. A verbal conflict eventually became physical, when he reportedly punched his 43-year-old supervisor in the face and ribs. When the supervisor hit the floor, the employee stepped on his face, police say.

Evanston Police Commander Tom Guenther said that hospital security staff had to intervene to restrain the young employee from inflicting further damage, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

But when the supervisor retreated into an inner office, the suspect fled the scene before police arrived. No arrests have been made as of Friday morning, according to WLS.
