Konstantin Grcic Wins Designer of the Year Award

HUFFPOST EXCLUSIVE: Konstantin Grcic Wins DesignMiami/ Designer Of The Year Award

Fast-forward. December 2010: Miami witnesses crowds flocking to catch a hefty dose of sun, sea, sand and.. chairs...

The latter may sound diminutive, but wait - I'm not talking about just any other old place to position your posterior - I'm talking about Design Miami's newly awarded Designer of the Year: Konstantin Grcic's 'Netscape' installation. The German industrial designer's prominent works will be a highlight over the six-day event.

Motivated towards "defining function in human terms", it is no wonder Grcic earned the award which honours only the very best established designers who have truly made a mark on design history. Challenging the traditional notions of being seated: Grcic's design rejects the idea of a static body, encouraging engagement and interaction with the surroundings creating an installation within the chair itself. Now do we need any more reason to go to Miami..?

and Huffington Post are delighted to bring you the exclusive first interview with the winner here
