Lorena Bobbitt, Who Cut Off Husband's Penis, Opens Up On TV

"I want to bring hope," she says.

The 1990s came roaring back on television Monday in the form of Lorena Bobbitt.

Bobbitt, you might recall, cut off her abusive husband's penis in 1993 with a kitchen knife while he slept, sparking a case that made the headlines before O.J.

She was eventually acquitted by reason of temporary insanity. Husband John Wayne Bobbitt had his member reattached and appeared in a few X-rated films, "John Wayne Bobbitt: Uncut" and "Frankenpenis."

Apparently the ex-spouse has also attempted to reconnect with Lorena -- by phone. "He tried but I always deleted his number," Lorena said on Monday's "Steve Harvey Show." "I mean, I have my life, I have a new life now, I just want to focus on what is positive and I've surrounded myself with positive people."

While host Harvey played part of the chat for laughs, Lorena emphasized that she appeared on the program to raise awareness of domestic violence. Remarried to a loving man with whom she has a daughter, Bobbitt started "Lorena's Red Wagon," a charity that helps abused women and children in shelters.

"I want to bring hope," she said.
