Man Spends 4 Hours Trapped In Chimney After Locking Himself Out

A neighbor heard the man yelling for help and called the fire department, rescue officials said.

An Arizona man learned a very valuable lesson on what not to do when you get locked out of your home.

The 26-year-old became stuck in his chimney for up to four hours Sunday after trying to shimmy down the tube and into his Tucson home, fire officials said.

A neighbor heard him yelling for help and called the fire department. By the time help arrived, the department said, he had managed to get far enough down to touch the floor, but the exit was too narrow for him to completely escape.

Firefighters consequently pulled him back up through the chimney. Photos capturing the rescue showed the man covered head-to-toe in soot as he was pulled free.

One of the final photos appeared to show him embracing one of his heroes.

According to AZCentral, the man joins a list of chimney rescues by Phoenix and Tucson firefighters.

Back in December, a 13-year-old Phoenix boy was rescued after he “slipped and fell” into his chimney while playing.

In July 2015, a 23-year-old Phoenix man was rescued after being led down his chimney as a “practical joke.”

And in February 2015 a Tucson teen was rescued after he also climbed down his chimney after locking himself out of his home.

Let’s leave the chimney climbing to the big man in red.
