Meryl Streep Covers Vogue: Talks 'The Iron Lady'

Meryl Streep Covers Vogue

Whether as Julia Child or a fierce fashion editor, Meryl Streep is easily the most transformative actress around.

Now, at 62, she can add Vogue cover girl to her long list of achievements.

She told the magazine that she hasn't "cared about anything she has done in a long time" as much as her upcoming role as the insurmountable Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady."

She also told the magazine that she related to the work ethic of the Prime Minister:

"It was really extraordinary, her tirelessness, sheer stamina. When I say that, I really mean it, because I work hard, I know what working hard is and I know what staying up late is, and you can do it for a certain time. But to do it for eleven years? And out of power, to keep on with it, into the sunset? Superhuman."

Oscar buzz is already gathering around the actress for her upcoming biopic.

"The Iron Lady" hits theaters Jan. 13, 2012.
