Mom's Honest Before-And-After Photos Come With Inspiring Message

“This body, THIS body should be celebrated and admired.”

As a reminder that all bodies deserve to be celebrated, a mom has shared side-by-side photos of herself before and after having kids.

Laura Mazza, who blogs at Mum on the Run, posted side-by-side photos on Facebook Aug. 27 of her body before and after having kids. In the caption of the post, she wrote to her Facebook followers that the pictures reflect “a victory story.”

Mazza wrote that she took the pic on the left before having a child, and that her appearance in the photo was “socially acceptable.”

“No stretch marks or scars from belly button piercings. A belly button that was high. A flat stomach,” she wrote. “I was always on a diet back then. And this was the best diet I went on.”

She took the pic on the right after having kids and pointed out that her body now is “not a body to be admired,” according to today’s beauty standards.

“On the right is me now. Stretch marks. A droopy belly button. Thicker, not many bones protruding, but more dimples that represent cellulite,” she wrote. “People don’t want to see this photo. All of a sudden it’s not okay.”

Mazza wrote that now her body is a reminder that she “made life,” and it deserves to be admired just as much as others celebrated her body before having kids.

“I’ve eaten more good foods. I’ve lived more, I’ve given more, I’ve enjoyed more. I’ve made life,” she wrote. “This body, THIS body should be celebrated and admired.”

The mom admitted she still wants to look like the first photo, but made the important point that she wants to do so in a “healthy way, mentally and physically.” She also wants to learn to love her body and wants others to know their bodies deserve some love, too.

“No matter what size you are, a size 6 or size 60,” she wrote. “You deserve to celebrate it.”
