Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey split up over a year ago, but according to the "America's Got Talent" host, they'll "always be family."
During his appearance on Wednesday's episode of "Ellen," Cannon spoke to host Ellen DeGeneres about co-parenting with Carey and revealed how the two make it work.
The former couple spent Thanksgiving together, which DeGeneres pointed out was "lovely."
"Yeah, it’s family. That’s a family time and we’ll always be family," Cannon explained, adding, "We make the kids the No. 1 priority, for them to see their parents together and for everybody to get along and have a great time."
The "Chi-Raq" star went on to tell DeGeneres that the secret to successful co-parenting is "unconditional love."
"They know Mommy and Daddy still love each other, but more importantly, they love us," he said.
When asked whether he'd met Carey's new boyfriend, Cannon admitted that he hasn't.
"I want to, though," he said. "I think that would be cool. It’s still like, we’ve all talked about it and stuff. It seems like it’s cool."
As for his own love life, Cannon revealed he's single and not ready to jump into another serious relationship just yet.
He explained, "I’m really trying to make sure I can establish being in my kids life and working. I’m always so busy so if I’m not working they’re my No. 1 priority."
