Phil Robertson Is A Modern-Day Prophet, Says Robertson's Son

According to Alan Robertson, son of 'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson, his father is a "prophet" and a "culture-changer."

Addressing an audience at the Family Research Council's Watchmen on the Wall conference, Robertson spoke about his father's anti-gay remarks in a December GQ interview that landed the family in hot water. Despite the family's show taking a hit following the controversy, Robertson stood by his father -- going so far as to call him a "21st century prophet."

"My dad has the heart and mindset of a prophet and is most compared to John the Baptist … for speaking the truth in a culture that isn't prepared to hear truth. That doesn't change my dad's view at all. Prophets tend not to care about their public image. They tend to talk about their judgment as if it's real and they speak what God gives them to speak ... so he is, in that sense, a 21st century prophet."

Since the December GQ profile, further anti-gay remarks from Phil Robertson have surfaced, including an Easter sermon he delivered in Louisiana. Echoing previous homophobic comparisons he has made, Robertson said, "Neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators nor adulterers nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

The younger Robertson appeared to condone his father's sentiments, telling the Watchmen on the Wall audience, "This message is for us to learn from these prophets. I want to encourage you guys to tell the truth. As a family, we're going to do that."

Robertson joined fellow Watchmen on the Wall speakers Tony Perkins, Franklin Graham, Rafael Cruz and Joyce Meyer, among others, for a national briefing that took place on May 21-23 in Washington D.C.
