Pregnant Olympic Gold Medalist Schools Instagram Trolls About Her Body

"I have to remind you that this is MY body."

Attention, pregnancy trolls: Soccer star Sydney Leroux doesn’t have time for your cruel comments.

On July 5, the U.S. women’s national team forward, who is expecting her first child in September, shared a photo on Instagram that showed her tubing on a lake. In response, Instagram trolls left hurtful comments including, “You gonna kill that baby.”

That same day, Leroux posted another photo on Instagram along with a message reminding the commenters whose body they were talking about.

“MY body is the body that is creating life,” she wrote. “MY body is the one that has stretch marks and cellulite and varicose veins and sore hips and back pain that runs down my legs. MY body is the body that is tired and sore and emotional and the happiest it’s ever been.”

In her post, Leroux asked the trolls to keep their “awful comments” to themselves and wrote that if she wants to “go on a tube and slowly ride around with [her] husband,” she’ll do just that.

The Olympic gold medalist has opened up about her pregnancy journey before by posting updates on her Instagram and sharing posts on her site. In a post from March, she shared her honest take on expecting her first child.

“I truly wish I could be one of those pregnant women who wake up every day happy, and feeling that ‘pregnancy glow,’ but I don’t always feel that way,” she wrote. “Most of the time I’m just in pain. My stomach feels like something is stabbing me from the inside and my hips feel like someone is ripping off my legs.”

In the same post, Leroux wrote that her son is what truly matters though, not the difficulties she’s faced during pregnancy ― Instagram trolls and all.

“I know that when I’m finally able to look at him it will make everything worth it,” she wrote. “To show him what love is and what it looks like when two people love each other.”
