Newest Dog Breed Is The Most Precious Thing We've Ever Seen

Hello, tiny fuzzball!

If you think you've seen it all in the land of cute, then think again.

THIS, friends, is the pumi dog. He is whimsical, he is precious, and he is probably going to be your next house pet: the American Kennel Club officially recognized the pumi as a breed this week.

Officially recognition means pumis are now eligible to compete in the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and other competitions.

Pumis have been living in U.S. homes for quite a while, but you can bet they'll be getting a lot more attention as the newest members of the nation's largest purebred dog registry.

The breed is originally from Hungary, where they've long served as herding dogs. Pumis are intelligent and quick learners, according to the Hungarian Pumi Club of America website. They're great for families who can provide lots of activity to match their high energy levels, and grow to be medium-sized dogs with a typical lifespan of 13 to 15 years.

Of course, it's important to remember that equally worthy mixed-breed dogs need homes, too. Whatever you choose, prepare for your life to majorly change when you get a dog... in the best way, of course.
