As Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna gear up to show the world the “real” them with their new reality series, the couple opened up to People magazine about their relationship.

The two, who got engaged back in April, got candid about their love for each other, with Kardashian telling the magazine, “She got me through my darkest times. I wasn’t happy in my own skin. I missed out on so many things.”

Kardashian, 29, who has put himself back in the public eye after months of being out of the spotlight and absent from “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” said Chyna keeps him motivated and “got me over the insecurity of being out in public.”

“I’ve been friends with Chyna for a long time,” he said. “She was someone I reached out to for advice. She would cook for me and we’d just talk. She’s surrounded me with a lot of positivity. From the moment we met, I knew I wanted to be more than friends.”

Chyna, 28, added her two cents, noting that she never wanted the only Kardashian brother to be anyone but himself.

“I saw Rob was willing to better himself,” she said. “I had never wanted to be tough. I never wanted to change him.”

Kardashian added that he still faces dark days, but with help from Chyna, he’s working towards self-improvement. “And I’m happy,” he said.

Kardashian and Chyna, who are expecting their first child together, are set to show their love to the world when their reality/docuseries premieres Sept. 11 on E!
