Russell Brand Details 'Vapid, Vacuous Celebrity' Life With Ex-Wife Katy Perry In New Doc

"Oh my f**king God. I’m living this life ... the very thing I detest."

Russell Brand has a new documentary coming out, called "BRAND: A Second Coming," and the entertainer isn't mincing words about the lavish life he shared with his ex-wife, singer Katy Perry.

The documentary, which premiered at SXSW a few months ago, shows Brand make the jump from Hollywood star to a political activist while married.

"Oh my f**king God. I’m living like this life ... the very thing I detest," says Brand while footage shows him and Perry walking by flashing cameras. "Vapid, vacuous celebrity."

"Fame, power and money is bulls**t," he adds.

According to a HuffPost writer who previewed the film, Brand apparently has a hard time dealing with a visit to Nairobi, where children forage for food in a "rubbish dump," and then going back to a life where he attends glamorous parties with Perry. The couple later filed for divorce in 2011 after 14 months of marriage.

The rest of "BRAND" doesn't dwell on the couple's relationship, and Brand has said before that he "really enjoyed" being married to the pop singer.

In Perry's own 2012 documentary, "Part of Me," she discusses her marriage to the comedian, which apparently ended when he texted her he wanted a divorce.

"If you can believe in something great, I feel like you can achieve something great," Perry said in the film. "I have that same belief system with everything, from career to my life to my personal life, everything. And I will do everything it takes to not fail. And I did everything it took, but it still failed."
