Syrian Boy, 17, Risks Life To Rescue Wounded Woman (VIDEO)

WATCH: Syrian Boy, 17, Risks Life To Rescue Woman

When a Syrian woman was shot by a sniper in Aleppo, her motionless body lay in the street for dead. But a dramatic rescue video caught by CNN shows a brave 17 year old boy who risked his life to save hers, CNN reports.

“We had a feeling she was still alive. We wanted to save her, to get her to a hospital,” he told CNN. As gunshots continuously fire at him, the boy crawls along the road until he reaches the injured woman.

“I said to myself, it’s God’s will if I die next to this woman,” he told CNN. He tied a rope to her legs and then crawled back to safety.

The video shows the woman being pulled by the rope out of the rebel’s fire. But despite the boy’s courageous actions, the woman eventually dies.

CNN captures the moment when the news is revealed to her son.

“Don’t die now! Don’t die today! Answer mom, answer me,” he screams.

The scene took place in what is known as a “sniper alley” -- a stretch of road that is in direct line of sight of a sniper, according to AFP.

The conflict began during the Arab Spring in March 2011. What began as protests against the four-decade rule of the Assad family dynasty, has become a civil war resulting in over 40,000 deaths, NBC News reports.

In Aleppo the country’s largest city, the rebels are making progress but are outgunned by government forces and are left unable to protect civilians, according to NBC.
