Taylor Swift Reportedly Threatened To Take Legal Action Against Kanye West Months Ago

Taylor Swift reportedly threatened to take legal action against Kanye West for recording without her permission the tell-tale phone call that revealed she did know about the lyrics to his song “Famous.”

According to TMZ, Swift’s camp threatened West with criminal prosecution. The site reports it obtained a letter from Swift’s attorney that was sent to the rapper in February. In the letter, Swift’s attorney informs West of a California law requiring two-party consent for recordings, meaning approval must be had from both sides of the line to tape a conversation. If Swift wasn’t aware she was being recorded, West committed a criminal offense.

“Demand is hereby made that you immediately destroy all such recordings, provide us of assurance that this has been done, and also assurance that these recordings have not been previously disseminated,” the letter reads, according to TMZ.

If Swift sees fit, she has the right to file a lawsuit against West and Kim Kardashian, who released the recording, for breaking the law.
