Ah, high school. How does anyone survive it? Especially when those you love ― aka your older brother and your best friend ― have turned against you? And by “turned against you,” we mean “started dating.”

In “The Edge of Seventeen,” such is the plight of Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld), a self-absorbed junior whose social circle isn’t exactly prosperous. Nadine turns to her history teacher (Woody Harrelson) for guidance, however reluctant he may be to give it. In conjunction with the movie’s Toronto International Film Festival premiere next week, The Huffington Post has an exclusive clip that highlights the hysterics of adolescence and the doldrums of adulthood. Facetious suicide notes have never been this fun.

“The Edge of Seventeen” opens theatrically on Nov. 18. It’s written and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig, who penned the Alexis Bledel comedy “Post Grad.” Watch the clip above.
