This Sign Is The Perfect Response To Creepy Dudes Hitting On Female Bartenders

A round of applause for this U.K. bar đź‘Ź

One U.K. bar has a hilarious approach to fending off creepy dudes who hit on their female bartenders.

On May 25, a bar in Exeter, Devon called The Beer Cellar tweeted a photo of a new sign the bar created after one of its female bartenders was harassed by a male customer.

“Why the female cashier is being nice to you,” the top of the sign reads. Underneath, there are two options: “She is uncontrollably sexually attracted to you” and “Because that’s literally her fucking job you cretin.”

The second option is filled in to note to customers that (spoiler alert!) it is, in fact, the correct response.

“This is definitely our favourite sign in the bar. Also if dudes could stop trying to kiss our female bartender’s hands that would be great,” the Beer Cellar Exeter’s Twitter account tweeted alongside the photo.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the tweet had received over 23,000 retweets and 51,000 likes.

The illustrator of the sign, Charlotte Mullin, told Mashable that good manners is often mistaken as “romantic interest” in hospitality industry and the sign is intended to address that.

“I wanted to make it clear that female staff are nice to you because they have to be!” Mullin told Mashable. “And, of course, most of us are decent human beings and would be nice to you anyway, but in no way does this mean we’re dying for your dick.”
