Tom Cruise appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Tuesday night and talked about making his now iconic movie “Top Gun.”

The 54-year-old actor, who admitted he’d always wanted to fly planes before he was cast in the movie, was eager to get in the air. When the day finally came to get on the planes, things didn’t go so well.

“The guy who flew me in the first flight, his name was Bozo,” Cruise said. “As we’re going down, he’s going through the check sheet, we’re going through it and there’s all these lights on. I remember saying to Bozo, ‘There’s a lot of red lights.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah yeah ... they don’t call me Bozo for nothing.’”

Cruise went on to describe the flight, during which they had to complete specific maneuvers in the aircrafts. It sounded rough.

“I had a bag right here [by his left ankle], the vomit bag, so in between takes I’d just quickly lean down to empty my guts into this bag,” Cruise said. “The second I did that, he pulls up ... my head, literally from the pressure, my head was on the ground. I was pressed on the floor holding my vomit.”

Cruise struggled to get Bozo’s attention while he was on the ground, but when they finally stopped ascending and he could lift his head, he asked Bozo what he was doing. Naturally, the pilot told Cruise (again), “I told you, they don’t call me Bozo for nothing.”

Watch Cruise tell the whole story in the video above.
