Brutal assault captured on camera.

UPDATE: 1:50 p.m. -- Police have arrested Euric Cain, who was wanted on multiple charges including first degree attempted murder.

Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said during a press conference Monday: "Members of our special operations teams along with U.S. marshals tracked Cain down and he was arrested without further incident and gave a full confession." Officials also found two women inside the home where Cain was hiding, including his girlfriend Victoria Washington. She has also been arrested.

The man suspected of shooting a Tulane University medical student who was trying to save a woman from the gunman's clutches has now been identified.

New Orleans police on Sunday released Euric Cain's name, ABC News reported.

"We're going to find you, we're going to prosecute you, and you're going to spend the rest of your life behind bars," New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu warned the at-large suspect, according to the network.

A man believed to be Cain was captured on terrifying surveillance video shooting Peter Gold, 25, a fourth-year student at Tulane's Medical School:

The now-viral footage shows the gunman dragging a woman down a street toward his SUV on Friday in an apparent robbery.

The unarmed Gold appears to intervene, but was then told by the gunman to surrender his money, police said, according to NOLA.com. When Gold reportedly said he had no cash, the suspect shot him in the stomach and attempted to shoot him in the head. But the gun jammed, and the suspect eventually fled with the unharmed woman's purse.

Gold remains in "guarded condition" but is expected to make a full recovery, reported NBC News.

The Gold family said in a statement: "While we deeply appreciate everyone’s concern, support and prayers as our family faces this crisis, our sole focus at this time is on Peter’s recovery. We ask that everyone respect our need for privacy while we join Peter as he begins to recover from the injuries he has sustained."
