Professor Eric Anderson is an American sociologist at the University of Winchester, England. He is known for his research on sexualities and masculinities studies, particularly concerning sport and relationships. His work shows an increasingly positive relationship between gay male athletes and sport, as well as a growing movement of young heterosexual men’s masculinity becoming softer and more inclusive. Professor Anderson also researches matters related to men’s monogamy and the function of cheating, men's improving recognition of bisexuality and the increased acceptance of young heterosexual men kissing.

He has written ten books, many of them award winners and best sellers. His most recent book is The Monogamy Gap: Men, Love and the Reality of Cheating (Oxford University Press, 2012).
