Jim Cramer's Ballooning Ego Now Approaching The Size of Rush Limbaugh's

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

We knew Cramer lived to hear himself talk, but this is getting ridiculous. Borrowing a page from Limbaugh, Cramer has penned a tedious open letter to the White House where he, in part, fantasizes that he's on the Obama Enemies List. Why? Because Cramer's name was brought up by a reporter at a White House press briefing this week.

That apparently signaled to Cramer that he needed to write more about himself under the guise of writing about the administration and the stock market.

-Number of times Cramer refers to "Obama" in open letter to White House: 9.

-Number of times Cramer refers to himself in open letter to White House: 43.

It reminds me of a passage from the recent Esquire profile of Cramer:

Because the only subject more fascinating to Jim Cramer than the stock market is, naturally, Jim Cramer.

I just had to say after reading a lot of the comments here, there is a HUGE difference between investing and trading. Analyst and commentators don’t use these words liberally and very unfortunately they don’t always say what a recommendation is, a trade or an investment. Each TV segment that is shown must be put in the context of what that person is talking about, is it a trade or an investment? what is the time horizon on it? Someone saying “XYZ is a buy” means nothing unless you know the context of the conversation but it makes for great TV fodder months later.
And I have seen more times than I can count someone saying something is buy one day and the circumstance changes and two days later they say they changed their mind and it is a short now. Especially for the last 2 years, things are changing on a daily basis.
And yes, Cramer is a megalomaniac.

Cramer crushed Frank Rich and the Daily show guy today.

Here's some gas on the fire:

The Cramer response tonight:

It's 13min long and covers a few of the issues being brought up here... although leaves a bunch out too...

Thanks for the link. He didn't convince me to his overall point of view (that the wealthy should continue receiving tax cuts and government spending, etc),

However, I think this was a good response. He presented his side of the argument clearly and concisely and he did make a few good points that I agreed with. He also pointed out that things he has said were taken out of context and parried some of the major criticisms he has received lately.

He didn't convince me to his point of view, and he's clearly very arrogant and self involved-as anyone who is familiar with Cramer would already know- but he did convince me that he has been unfairly vilified.

Uh oh, the Daily Show stuck back. I actually thought they may have dropped the ball on this one...

However...

While John Stewart admitted that in this particular instance yes, Jim Cramer was quoted out of context., and apologized.

He then proceeded to play a clip from a couple weeks before the clip they had played before, and in it in Cramer unequivically says to buy bear stearns stock.

The Daily Show truly does rule all.

A very interesting commentary by a pundit was put out in Newseek... As an active trader I take what he is saying for granted but seeing the attack on CNBC by many fellow progressives (not saying it isn't unwarranted at times); it is worth a read. Most traders or investors know what he is saying but letting the general public in on this is a great thing.

Won't two Limbot size egos block out the sun and start an ice age? Well, at least it will solve the global warming thing.

I would hardly put Cramer and Limbaugh in the same boat. Cramer is very smart even though he's a big show-off. I'd trust what he said a heck of a lot sooner than Limbaugh.

How did all that Bear Stearns stock he recommended work out for you?

Yeah, prioritizing flim flam artists and saying, "well, this one is less inimical to me than these others" is kind of like saying, "well, the Japanese military committed atrocities, but not like the Germans did." They are all bad and deserve to pay severe penalties.

He never recommended Bear. Stop circumventing the truth in an effort to serve your own motives. He told a depositor to Bear that their deposits were safe. No where near listing something as a buy. Get your facts straigt, then type.

People who have been demonstrably dead wrong on major national issues can somehow maintain both their giant egos and their broadcast programs. What on earth is wrong with this country?
The answer is "corporate power."

How has Saturday Night Live not come up with a good Jim Cramer sketch yet? It would make a great recurring bit in these times, with Cramer just being wronger and wronger ("Citibank stock is so cheap, how can you afford NOT to buy it?"). At least the Daily Show is calling this crook out to his face.

My real question is, what's with this increasingly popular idea that being a talk or radio show host gives you the right to expect the POTUS to give more weight to what you say. (The irony of the phrase "more weight" in a reference to Rush Limbaugh is not lost on me, but it is entirely unintentional, I swear.)

Poor Cramer, reduced to selling the only thing he has left, his integrity. I hope it brings in enough for him to retire on. (Please)

Can someone please tell me why Cramer isn't in jail for stock rigging and insider trading? His still being allowed to peddle his misinformation and just sheer bs every night is why these bankers and financial scammers feel so invincible. This guy should be on America's Most Wanted, not CNBC.

Cramer has already flip-flopped once. He originally supported Obama's economic policies, but now cannot justify them because the stock market is not responding quickly enough for him and the impatient, greedy types that are his audience. I'm sure he will flip-flop back again if things start looking a little better.

I think Cramer has lost and is going to lose a lot more money in the market. It seems to be playing with his head. That's why Stanley Fish's article about Neo-liberalism, in today's NYTimes, was such a teaching moment for America where English is a second language, especially on Wall Street.

Cramer's latest antics (and that's what they are -- a child's outburst) have permanently soured me. The guy who told viewers to hold on to Bear Sterns days before it imploded now trashes the president for supposedly costing American wealth? I laugh so that I do not cry.
