Eric Lewis is a lawyer in Washington who represents Guantanamo detainees who have brought torture and religious humiliation claims against ex-Secretary Rumsfeld and senior generals. The Supreme Court sent the case back to the Court of Appeals for reconsideration earlier this year. The Court of Appeals again found no right not to be tortured and that Guantanamo detainees were not “persons” entitled to statutory protection. The case will be brought back to the Supreme Court later this year.
