Erwin Chemerinsky is the Alston & Bird Professor of Law and Political Science at Duke University. He joined the Duke faculty in 2004 after 21 years at the University of Southern California. Chemerinsky is the author of four books and over 100 law review articles on aspects of constitutional law. He frequently argues appellate and Supreme Court cases, including Van Orden v. Perry, which dealt with the constitutionality of a Ten Commandments monument -- and in the 2004-2005 term, Tory v. Cochran, about whether injunctions are a permissible remedy in defamation cases.
